A video of a lady by the name of Sherine performing on stage with her child went viral after netizens felt she was not professional.
The question is, is it really unprofessional to go with your child to work when there is no other way out, or is it a way for society to try and prove the notion that women’s careers die when they become mothers?
In the video, Sherine’s daughter can barely stay still and is constantly seeking her mother’s attention.
Netizens were vexed questioning why she did not get a babysitter, or leave the child with a family member or even the dad.

Even though the situation was not very conducive Sherine’s performance as an artist and a mother was impeccable.
She handled her daughter calmly and in the best way, one could.
Other women and mothers who saw the video also left an encouraging message in the comment section.

In a women’s movement blog “shethepeople” they talk about the sabotage society causes in the name of the kids are the ones who spoil women’s careers.
“If rearing children is continued to be seen as a gendered responsibility, how will women re-enter the workforce post-childbirth,” Yamini, the writer of the movement questioned.
Women are normally put in a position to choose one or the other, and if they want to live a less complicated life then they should put motherhood aside.
Is this fair?
Mothers have to go above and beyond to prove that having children will not affect their work, and yes an employer does have the right to be worried about this but “the strength of a woman/mother” is that which not everyone can manage.
A few organizations do offer daycare services at their workplace for mothers with young kids and nowhere to take them, do you think this should be more adopted?
