The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in Bungoma is investigating three people over attempted bribery during the ongoing recruitment of Kenya Forest Services at Bungoma airstrip.

Confirming the incident, Western Regional EACC Manager Christine Natome says that Aberdare National Park Ranger Philip Wesa was trying to recruit Constant Mulongo who is his brother-in-law.

The EACC regional manager states that upon conducting a search on the culprits, they recovered bribe money of Ksh.240,000 in cash from them.

“Philip Wesa, who is Ranger at Kenya Wildlife Service based at Niambini Post in Aberdares National Park was at the recruitment centre and was intending to bribe the recruiting officers in order to recruit one Constant Mulongo Barasa who is his brother-in-law,” read the statement.

“Our officers arrested the three, searched them, and recovered bribe money of Ksh.240,000 in cash from them.”

According to EACC, the third suspect, Emmanuel Lusaka, was nabbed after he was seen taking Barasa back to the recruitment area after he had been eliminated for not meeting the 5.6 feet height requirement.
