Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has claimed that he has been summoned to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head offices along Kiambu road.

Speaking on Spice FM Wednesday morning, Senator Sifuna claimed that he has been ordered to appear together with former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and he is yet to know the reason behind the summon.

“I have been summoned to the DCI and in fact, they have not given me written sermons I just heard it from Danstan Omari who is the coalition lawyer and they said that they want me and Oparanya to appear. We don’t know for what,” he claimed.

The legislator went on to censure the DCI for the summon, claiming that he is just a pawn within the Azimio la Umoja coalition and that Raila Odinga should be the subject of interest.

He argued that security authorities find it mind-tasking to arrest Raila hence why they are “harassing” other Azimio allies.

“The leadership of Kenya Kwanza are in agreement that Baba needs to be arrested, the police and their minions are also in agreement, where they are stuck is the person to do this arrest,” he said.

“I am a very small player in this particular cause. In fact the president himself said it, if you have a problem with Raila deal with him, stop harassing us. You know where he lives.”

Further affirming that he will nonetheless honour the summon, Sifuna questioned why he is being probed yet there no one has been questioned over the Kenyatta land invasion witnessed during Monday’s anti-government protests.

“I am a law-abiding citizen if they summon me I will go there I have nothing to hide,” he said.

“The most ridiculous thing is I am being summoned before people who have made clear criminal pronouncements that have resulted in the invasion of people’s farms.”
