The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has dismissed reports that they have replaced party officials in Kakamega County.

In a statement on Monday, the party stated that they have gotten wind of reports alleging that there have been leadership changes in the county.

ODM termed the reports as misleading, stating that no election or replacement of officials will take place without the express approval of the National Elections Board (NEB) as guided by law.

They clarified that changes in the party leadership are subject to a party election which is slated for later this year, adding that those willing to resign before then should follow due process.

“Should any party official wish to resign or relinquish their position, they are advised to follow the laid down procedure by formally writing to the NEB who will then, pursuant to the Party’s Election and Nomination Rules advise on how the position(s) should be filled,” read part of the statement.

Meanwhile, those interested in the aforementioned positions have been advised to “start acquainting themselves with rules that govern the grassroots elections pending the announcement of the date of elections.”
