All Sudan Khartoum International Airport Flights Canceled As Rapid Support Forces Storm In

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has declared that it had seized control of Khartoum International Airport (KRT), as clashes erupted between Sudan’s paramilitary RSF and the army on Saturday.

Canceled flights at Khartoum Airport

Numerous flights departing from Khartoum Airport have been canceled, including flights operated by FlynasflydubaiEgyptair, and Saudia, among others, according to Flightradar24.com data.

Flights en route to Khartoum have been allegedly denied landing permissions, halting air traffic at Sudan’s largest airport for an indefinite period. Flightradar24.com data shows that many to Khartoum have also been canceled, including those by Emirates, Turkish Airlines, flydubai, and Saudia, among other airlines.

Following reports of a possible coup, footage on social media emerged showing Sudan’s RSF storming Khartoum International Airport with their vehicles.

Additional footage on social media showed members of Sudan’s RSF walking through the passenger terminals of the International Airport while carrying firearms.

It is worth noting that the  Airport is the main base for Sudan’s flag carrier, Sudan Airways. According to data from ch-aviation,com, the airline currently operates an Airbus A320 aircraft. Flightradar24.com data indicates that Sudan Airways’ Airbus A320 departed today for Jeddah from Khartoum at 07:00 but did not return.

The RSF is a powerful paramilitary group in Sudan that has been exhibiting signs of increasing tension with the country’s military. The RSF operates, which operates under a special law and has its own chain of command, has been accused of human rights abuses and involvement in conflicts throughout the country.
