A 25-year-old man is nursing injuries after he was attacked by an irate mob for brutally killing a 22-year-old lady over an alleged romantic entanglement in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The deceased is reportedly said to have rejected the man’s advances, after which the latter stabbed her to death.
Kajiando County Police Commander Muthuri Mwongera confirmed the Friday night incident, which occurred inside a restaurant, saying the suspect who is a colleague of the deceased at the restaurant left work early and later came back and waited for the lady outside before committing the hideous act.
Witnesses then descended on the man, inflicting serious injuries.
Mwongera says the suspect is recuperating in a Kitangela hospital under police watch awaiting his arraignment on Monday.
The body of the deceased has since been taken to Shalom Hospital Mortuary as investigations into the case are underway.
