Former Kiss FM presenter Obinna decided to advise his successor about the salary they should seek from the station’s management.
Obinna left Kiss FM exactly one year after he joined the station. His last day at the station was on April 17, 2023.
The comedian speaking during an interview with a local publication said that his contract with Radio Africa Group expired and for personal reasons he chose not to renew his contract.
Obinna advised Eddie Butita not to ask for a Ksh1 million monthly salary, noting that his former employer at Kiss FM could not offer anything more than Ksh700,000 a month.
“Dear @kiss100kenya mko na 1 million per month? Price is not negotiable #ikokazikenya,” Eddie Butita wrote.
While responding to Butita, Obinna revealed that he too also sought a Ksh1 million salary while seeking employment at Kiss FM but did not get the seven-figure pay he yearned for.
“Hata mimi nilitaka hiyo ikakuwa tricks. Punguza kidogo economy ni mbaya. Cheza na 700 hapo. All the best,” Obinna replied to Butita in a quick rejoinder.
In another post, Obinna warned his would-be successor not to dare ask for anything more than a Ksh700,000 monthly salary.
“The next person acheze na 700 hapo, times are tough usiitishe 1M hautapata, hata 710 usidhubutu. May the next best man/woman/them win. Ukiipata hiyo chance, piga kazi safi that’s one of the best platforms and employers you will find in this town. God speed!!” Obinna wrote.
