Litein Boys high school closed indefinitely after students riot

Litein Boys High School in Bureti, Kericho County has been closed indefinitely after the students held demonstrations on Sunday night.

According to a staff member at the school, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the students went on rampage over unclear reasons.

The students damaged various school properties including window panes, Biometric systems and vehicles.

Police officers from Litein police station were called to quell the riots.

The officers shot in the air to scare away the boys, who tried to engage them.

The school management is now holed up in a crisis meeting with the Board of Management, and is yet to issue any statement.
