Former Premier League star Martin Keown admitted he, like the Arsenal players, is hurting after watching his old club surrender the title to Manchester City.
He admitted that the title hopes have been simply ‘ripped apart’.
This was after the Gunners were battered by Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, a defeat that all but ended their hopes of winning the title for the first time since 2004.
He told talkSPORt that he got a bit of stick from his fellow commuters as he made his way to work on Monday morning.
“There were a few smirks [from people] as I was travelling today – ‘what happened to your lot?’ – big grins on their face,” said the Arsenal Invincible.
“You have to suck it in, really.
“It hurts when you get so close and that dream blows up in your face.
“The players have lived that dream for many months, thinking they can be champions, but it’s simply been ripped apart.”
