Two bodies retrieved from Kakamega goldmine

A sombre mood has engulfed Bukondi village in Ikolomani constituency Kakamega County, after two bodies of men aged 25 and 27 were retrieved from a collapsed goldmine.

The two were among 11 people buried under the rocks, in a 100-feet deep goldmine last week.

9 people survived the tragedy as the two others remained buried inside.

Miners in the area now want the government to assist them in getting special mining machinery to prevent future disasters.

The bodies of the two victims were moved to Kakamega Mortuary for an autopsy as family starts burial arrangements.
