General Service Unit (GSU) on Saturday defeated Kenya Defence Forces( KDF) 3-1(25-21,25-19,25-27,25-14) sets to charge on with their quest for a record 15th league title.

This was in the sixth leg of Kenya Volleyball Federation men’s league matches,  held at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium.

Courtesy of the win, the reigning champions went top of the log with 35 points on the 16- team league returning to their admired position.

GSU head coach jubilantly congratulated his charges, who were quickest off the blocks.

“Despite the game being tough, I had planned well and my boys were well sharpened for the match,” he said, twisting the knife on the back of the opposition by claiming “he was sure of the win”.

“Every match seems to be tough, but I’m focused to finish atop in the regular season as well as the playoffs,” Tarus added.

KDF, who finished in the top four last season have two teams to face before the regular season ends.

The paramilitary team head coach, Elisha Aliwa, attributed their defeat to the poor services from his players.

“Most of our services, which were our strategy to suppress the opponent were off-target,” he lamented. “We’ve noted the mess and going forward we will work on it.”

The reigning champions have three matches to the end of the regular season while KDF will be aiming to win the two left matches as eyes focus on the playoffs.
