Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has temporarily closed a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass for four days.

The closure announced on Friday will pave way for contractors to carry out maintenance works along the stretch.

It will affect the Kikuyu-bound carriageway from the virtual weighbridge to Gitaru Overpass.

KeNHA’s Director General Kung’u Ndung’u said the road will remain closed until Sunday, June 18.

He added that motorists would access the area every night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am.

“Normal traffic will resume every night between 6:00 pm and 9:00 am. This allows highway maintenance works along the section,” he said.

Motorists were advised to approach the closed section with caution and follow the traffic signs and guidance in place.

KeNHA will deploy marshals to control traffic at nigh during the closure period for security and direction purposes.

Additionally, signs will be erected to direct motorists plying the Southern Bypass.

The Nairobi Southern Bypass project involved the construction of a 28.6km dual carriageway with 12 kilometres of slip roads and an extra 8.5 kilometres of service roads.
