The body of former National Treasury staff Mr Tom Osinde has been found dumped in River Kuja in Migori County. The body was positively identified by his family members on Thursday morning. The discovery of the body comes more than 10 days after Mr Osinde was reported missing.
News of Mr Osinde’s, which is still shrouded in a mystery, was confirmed in a Facebook post by his brother Mr Nemwel Osinde who is based in the United States.
“Thank you friends for your outpouring of love, prayers and support during my brother’s search. Unfortunately, the outcome isn’t the one we anticipated. Tom was killed and his body was found in Migori County. Please continue praying for us as try to come to terms,” said Mr Nemwel Osinde.
The deceased was a brother to the late Ken Osinde, a former Chief of Staff in the office of President William Ruto when he was serving as the Deputy President. Mr Ken Osinde also served as the Ambassador of Kenya to Germany between 2010 and 2014.
A detective privy to the ongoing investigations told Nairobi News that they suspect one of the late Tom Osinde’s workers dumped his body in River Gucha in Kisii County.
On Wednesday evening detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited Mr Osinde’s home in Ngata farm, Nakuru County and arrested two workers.
According to the police, the main suspect in the murder is Mr Julius Mogoi who was seen driving a car belonging to the deceased in his home in Nyakio, South Mugirango in Kisii County.

The investigators also spent more than four hours, conducting a search and interrogating workers at the home that sits on a 10-acres farm.
“We have conducted a thorough search in a section of the expansive 10-acres farm where Mr Mokaya’s residence stands. We covered about seven acres. This is part of the probe into the disappearance of the Ex-Treasury official,” said Donatta Atieno who is the Rongai Sub-County criminal investigations officer.
Mr Osinde was on June 18, 2023, reported missing by his family which shared the information on various social media platforms.
Two days after he went missing, his vehicle, a black Toyota Land Cruiser V8 was found abandoned in Transmara West Sub-County in Narok. The vehicle was then towed to Transmara Police Station where it is currently parked.
