United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders yesterday vowed to appeal the High Court ruling that suspended implementation of the Finance Act.
They said the move will affect service delivery as the government will not run its operations. Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, John Njuguna (Kiambaa), John Kaguchia (Mukuruweini), Gitonga Mukunji (Manyatta), Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa, Murang’a Women Rep Betty Maina and Water Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome said the Judiciary should give government time to do its work without too much interference.
Speaking during a service at Breakthrough Ministry Church in Murang’a, the leaders said as much as they respect the Judiciary and cannot dictate to it how to do its work, they also have the right to disagree with some of its rulings.
Ndindi, who is the parliamentary Budget Committee chair said the Finance Act aims to help the country rise to levels of economic prosperity thus its suspension will have more adverse effects.
“We cannot dictate to the Judiciary on what to do but we would like them to look at the implications that the ruling will have on the public,” he said.
