A daredevil boda boda rider became the talk of town over the weekend after his extremely dangerous Thika Road antics made it online.

The rider, who was carrying a female passenger, was recorded doing a ‘wheelie’ (riding a mortobike using only the rear wheel) along Thika Road, as he nonchalantly sped down the busy highway.

His female passenger, who, judging by her cheery countenance, was assumed to be his girlfriend, simply sat on the back seat, casually holding on to the rider with only one hand, as she took time to check out other people along the highway, smiling.

Without a care in the world, and oblivious of the mortal danger she was exposed to, the young short-haired woman smiled away, even as her rider dangerously sped on, bending over so far backwards, she could almost scrape the tarmac.

In the short clip, which left Kenyans on Twitter gobsmacked, the ‘boda boda’ rider, who is not even wearing a protective helmet, appeared unbothered – despite endless catcalls from other road users, he never once took his eyes off the road.

“What level of trust is this on the side of the passenger?” @Muetah, a Twitter user, asked.

Another one @davidmbwana, said, “When she is your ride or die.”

Judging from the clip, one could tell that this was not the first time the rider attempted such a reckless stunt.

Numerous attempts to pause the video and obtain the motorbike’s registration proved difficult due to the fast-moving nature of the video.

Most Boda Boda riders are infamous for their daredevilry, cheeky stunts and careless traffic exhibitionism.

The NTSA, the statutory body tasked with bringing sanity on our roads, has not commented on the video yet.
