Kenyan journalist Sharon Barang’a has officially announced her move to China Global Television Network (CGTN) following her departure from TV 47 just a few days ago.
Barang’a shared the news with her followers by posting a photo of the CGTN TV studio, signalling the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her career.
She expressed her gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support and requested their continued prayers as she embarks on this new journey.
“My new home. This week, I started a new chapter in my career. To everyone who has been following up on my journey, cheering me up & praying for me…Asanteni sana,” she stated.
In an emotional farewell message on Friday, Barang’a reflected on her time at TV 47, acknowledging the warmth and acceptance she received from the company during a particularly challenging period in her life.
She tearfully bid her former colleagues farewell, emphasizing the profound impact they had on her. According to Barang’a, the station had become more than just a workplace.
She said it had become a second family and a safe haven. She expressed deep appreciation and acknowledged her eternal indebtedness to the brand.
With an illustrious career spanning over five years, Barang’a is an award-winning journalist renowned for her coverage of education and children’s affairs. Her notable achievements include being honoured with the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in 2017.
She was also recognized as one of the winners of the ICFJ’s Early Childhood Development Reporting Contest in 2016.
Barang’a now joins a growing list of Kenyan journalists who have joined CGTN, such as Beatrice Marshall, Ramah Nyang, Grace Kuria, Peninah Karibe, Enock Sikolia, and Sadique Shaban.
