A section of the Nairobi Expressway has been temporarily closed due to the ongoing nationwide demonstrations.

In a statement on Wednesday, Moja Expressway said toll services have been halted at the Mlolongo, Syokimau and SGR stations.

All motorists plying the route have been urged to use the Westlands-Mlolongo route to exit from JKIA and those headed to Westlands have been urged to join the road from JKIA Toll Station.

Efforts to restore calm in the area are underway.

In videos obtained by Citizen Digital, a team of rowdy protesters were seen vandalising a fence and road rails erected at the road section and have also set ablaze a bunch of tires.
