ODM party Members of County Assembly (MCAs) who met UDA leaders in Nairobi on Friday, July 7, have now apologised to their electorates.
The MCAs were pictured with Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and his ICT counterpart Eliud Owalo.
Silas Madingu of Central Gem Ward and Seth Baraka of East Gem Ward have now dismissed claims that they intend to ditch the ODM party for UDA, claiming that they were only tricked by Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo.
Madingu alleges that they had gone to visit the MP to discuss some issues of development before they were tricked to take photos with Murkomen and Owalo.
The MCAs who visited the MP together with their counterpart Brian Anyango Obiero (South Gem) and Philip Obonyo (North Gem) have faced serious criticism and condemnation from members of the public since they made the visit on Saba Saba Day.
Madingu and Baraka have even received threats of being de-whipped from some of the committees in the County Assembly for allegedly betraying their party.
While speaking during anti-government demonstrations in Ramula trading center on Wednesday, the MCAs maintained that they are staunch members of the ODM party and have no intentions of moving anywhere as may be perceived.
He stated that they are strongly behind Azimio leader Raila Odinga and warned that nobody can deregister them from ODM party.
Madingu stated that they will not allow their political detractors to cause division amongst the leaders of Gem constituency through cheap propaganda and baseless politicking.
Siaya County Assembly will also be discussing the conduct of those MCAs today.
