Everton are making a spirited effort to keep their Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi.

Iwobi is into the final year of his contract with the Toffees.

The 26-year-old was close to signing an extension in the early part of last season but changed his mind due to the club’s relegation battle.

A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in the versatile midfielder but Everton are still hopeful they can convince him to sign an extension.

The Merseysiders may however consider selling Iwobi instead of losing the player on a free next summer.

Iwobi featured in all of Everton’s 38 Premier League games last season, netting twice and providing seven assists.

He arrived at Everton from Arsenal in 2019.
