A pastor in Suba, Homa Bay county was on Saturday, July 15, 2023, arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.

The man of the cloth was arrested after he sexually abused the minor during a prayer session on the evening of Thursday, July 13, 2023.

In the unfortunate incident, the man of God had been invited to pray for the young girl so as to cast out demons.

He requested that the prayers are held outside the house so that the demons go away.

When the prayers did not ‘yield’ the expected results, the clergyman asked the parents of the minor to go back inside and leave him with the young girl.

After they left, he allegedly defiled the minor.

The minor did not raise awareness on the matter until Friday when she told one of her teachers at school.

The teacher took her to a nearby medical facility where it was confirmed that she had been defiled.

She subsequently reported the matter to authorities who arrested the clergyman and the girl’s father for abetting the offence.

“Without hesitation, the teacher took her straight to the hospital and informed the authorities. The hospital confirmed that she had been defiled,” Suba children’s officer Kepher Otago stated.

The minor was later admitted to Magunga sub-county hospital for further examination.

“We have started her on medication to avoid infection,” Otago said.

Otago added that they will take the minor to a rescue centre after she recovers.
