Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino is presently awaiting arraignment at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi where he is set to be charged.
Citizen Digital understands that the lawmaker is facing subversion charges in regards to his role in the ongoing opposition-led anti-government protests.

Babu was on Tuesday night arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and taken to Wang’uru Police Station in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, where he is said to have spent the night.

He was on Thursday transferred to the Nairobi Area Traffic Police Headquarters after his family members and lawyers stormed the Wang’uru station demanding his release.

“We actually went there (Wang’uru) yesterday and it was so bad, they could not allow anyone near the gate. They dispersed everyone including the lawyers,” Okatch earlier told Citizen Digital.

“Instead of taking him to the law courts there they have actually have brought him to Nairobi and at a speed of around 220km/hour.”
