Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo has distanced herself from social media posts suggesting that she is against the demonstrations sanctioned by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.

Odhiambo said the viral posts that implied that she has stopped supporting Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s course were from a fake social media account.

“I want to be categorical about social media posts going around that I Millie Odhiambo is opposing anti-government protests by Azimio, and that I have said that my party leader Raila Odinga can’t be the president of this country, I want to condemn the post and state that I’m fully behind my party leader, those are cheap propaganda being peddled by UDA supporters to damage my reputation,” the Suba North MP told Citizen.

Odhiambo further called out the state for what she termed as attempts to gag and intimidate leaders who criticize its failures.

She urged the government to respect the freedom of expression as defined in Kenya’s constitution and avoid victimizing leaders who are criticizing the state on various issues affecting the country.

The MP claimed that the government, through the ministry interior and National administration is now misusing police officers to intimidate and arrest leaders allied to Azimio, whenever they express their opinions on the State.

She also condemned the excessive force used by police officers on Azimio leaders and their supporters which inflicts pain and serious injuries.
