Police in Lamu are holding a 20-year-old man who allegedly stabbed and killed another man during a fight over a 16-year-old girl.

The incident happened on Friday, August 18, 2023, when the suspect allegedly confronted Mr Mohamed Yusuf and accused him of defiling the 16-year-old girl leading to a serious fight.

According to the police, during the confrontation the suspect drew a knife and he stabbed the deceased on the chest.

Residents rushed the man to hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“He told the police that he was bitter with how the deceased has been sexually assaulted his relative despite several warnings” a report seen by Nairobi News reads in part.

According to the police, suspect was due to be charge in court on Monday, August 21, 2022.

A postmortem on the deceased, who has since been buried, revealed that he died of excessive bleeding from the chest.

Meanwhile, in Funyula, Busia County, police officers are holding a woman who allegedly killed her two-day-old baby before throwing the body into a pit latrine.

The woman was arrested after residents alerted the police of the heinous crime as the suspect was about to flee.

In Buruburu, an electrician was electrocuted as he was repairing power connections within the City Carton Area.

Mr Alex Ouma, 23, had secured a job to correct power connections when the incident happened.

Efforts by neighbours and the owner of the house to rush him to hospital did not bear any fruit.

Police said the owner then recorded a statement with them at the Buru Buru Police Station.
