Mishi Mboko, a Likoni Member of Parliament, has stated unequivocally that leaders in Mombasa County will not allow the society to be misled about same-sex relationships.

Speaking in Mombasa, MP Mboko stated that Kenya is guided by religious traditions, customs, and beliefs that will never allow vice to infiltrate the society.

As a result, she has urged residents to remain vigilant and to fight the problem aggressively as it spreads across the country.

Similarly, she urged parents to guide their children, especially during the holiday season, in order to protect them from being morally corrupted by society.

“Wazazi mkae macho msiwe macho tu kwa kuwa waona mtoto wa kike atatiwa mimba. Sasa hivi kaa macho mpaka kwa mtoto wa kiume,” she said.

Mboko also censured the Supreme Court’s ruling on the freedom of association for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community.

In February, the Supreme Court ruled that the decision to deny LGBTQ members the right to register as an NGO, despite the fact that homosexuality is illegal in the country, was discriminatory.

This came after lower courts in Kenya denied members of the community the right to register a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) to advance their rights in 2013.
