Six counties, including Nairobi, to experience blackouts

Kenya Power has announced that six counties, including Nairobi, will experience a blackout on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

In a statement issued by the utility firm, the power outages will result from normal maintenance and will be from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Nairobi County, areas of Runda – Two Rivers Mall, Mimosa Road, Mimosa Ridge, Runda Grove, Runda Drive, Eliud Mathu Rd, Runda Road, Ruaka Groove, Mae Ridge Country Villa, Runda Mumwe, Runda Riviera, Andrew & Ela Zagorettis, Runda Water, Porterhouse school, Githogoro, Glory road, Faith Avenue, Runda Gardens, Parts of Northern Bypass, Mamlaka Hill Chapel and adjacent customers.

Parts of South C: Muhoho Avenue, Kiongoni Primary, Bellevue Nairobi South Hospital, DCI Training, Halai estate, Sungura Road, Nextgen, KPA, Mugoya and Amboseli estates, KNEC, Olesereni, RAMCO court, DAFAM, Popo road, EKA hotel and adjacent customers.

In Machakos County, parts of Mutonguini Road, Kinanie Samaria, Kinanie Market, Kimongo, Nzioani, Nyaani, St. Monica School, Kinanie High School, and adjacent customers.

In the North Rift region, parts of West Pokot County – area of Kacheliba, Kishaunet, Serewo, Kitalekapel, Kacheliba, Kodich, Konyao, Alale, and adjacent customers.

Parts of Trans Nzoia county that will be affected include Soymining, Kapkoi, Katuke, Kabomboi, and adjacent customers.

In Kakamega county, Bukhakunga, Lukume, and Shihome market, Powerspot factory, Gotv station, Mayuge primary, Mutsuma primary and secondary school, and adjacent customers.

Kilifi County, too, will be affected by the power surges. Parts of Bamba, Mariango, Mtulu, Shak, and Chapungu primary schools, Kabelengani, Bamba, and Jila markets, Mitsimerini, Bandari, Mtsara Tsaru, Shangweni, Dodosa, Mrima Ndege, and adjacent customers.

With every hour there are power outages, business premises are the most affected, with many counting losses as the clock ticks.
