Eric Njoka, a former K24 journalist, has opened up about the myriad of challenges he has encountered, both on a personal and professional level, and how he chose resilience over surrender.
In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page, the talented journalist reflected on his journey and revealed that one of the most significant blows he faced was the loss of both his parents at the zenith of his career.
This devastating moment had the potential to derail his path, but instead, it fueled his determination to persevere and demonstrated his remarkable strength in the face of adversity.
Njoka wrote: “For years, I have had to fight back so much…so many resentments, judgments, rebukes, and undeserved hate. Many didn’t, and still don’t, understand me and my serious demeanor (both on and off the air) … but I keep going. I don’t know what my end game is or will be.”
The loss of his parents and his closest supporter, best friend, and confidant a year ago could have plunged him into depression, but Njoka chose not to let it break him.
He acknowledged feeling alone but refused to succumb to despair.
“I lost both my parents at the peak of my career, I also lost my greatest support, best friend and confidant a year ago. I didn’t allow myself to go into depression but I felt and still feel alone…”
Njoka emphasized that he never sought validation for his endeavors, believing that he chose his career, and it chose him in return.
He says he remained unbroken despite the challenges that came his way.
Njoka shared his perspective on his journey, saying:
“I don’t aspire to be a celebrity or a star, I don’t dream of that day. Instead, I feel proud to say ‘been there, done that,’ and I’m still going…so should you. Live your life to the fullest; careers do not define you. Be true to yourself! Stay blessed.”
