The hearing of the impeachment motion against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has entered its second day.
Today, Mwangaza is tabling her evidence before the Senate and cross-examination and re-examination of witnesses will take place.
The sitting kicked off with Mwangaza’s counsel cross-examining witnesses.
Adrian Aruyaru, a member of Meru Njuri Ncheke and Chairperson of Tigania West, Tigania East and Tigania Central is among witnesses testifying.
Aruyaru has narrated events of October 14, where he says a section of Members of the County Assembly took oath at the Njuri Ncheke shrine.
At the event, Meru Deputy Governor Isaac Mutuma was given blessings to be the leader, as seen in a recording played at the senate.
The governor shall cease to hold office if a majority of the Senators vote in support of the motion.

Under the claim that Mwangaza employed her relatives, Ongoya said that some of the named persons are not related to Mwangaza nor her husband Murega Baichu. He submitted that some of the individuals have been employed by the national government, and others had been employed before Mwangaza assumed office.
He has accused MCAs of resurrecting dead matters and having contradictory claims.
Governor Mwangaza has pleaded not guilty to the 7 charges. She is represented by lawyer Elisha Ongoya, who has challenged the charges submitted by the Meru County Assembly.
