A 41-year-old man has been arrested for defiling a 10-year-old girl in Nairegei Enkare, Narok County.

According to the police report seen by Citizen Digital, the man was caught in the act by the victim’s mother on November 3.

It is reported that the victim was washing utensils when the felon forcibly grabbed her hand into the house and forced himself on her.

“He gagged me before forcing himself on me”, the minor recounted to journalists.

According to the victim’s mother, she was in a ‘come we stay’ relationship with the perpetrator whose job and main source of income came from loading maize into trucks.

“He (perpetrator) told me to have the kids go wash utensils in another shed. Thereafter I noticed that they had taken a long time, and one of the kids had returned while the other had not,” she said.

“I broke down the door to the room and found the man stark naked and in the act. After asking her to tell me the truth, my daughter confirmed that he had forced himself on her.”

The mother then went to her sister’s house to inspect any bodily harm the victim may have suffered, and then shortly after took her to the hospital where they confirmed the rape.

The family was then referred to Narok Hospital.

Another witness said that the victim told her the man threatened to kill her if she spoke about it.

“Had her mother not found her, chances are that we would have never known. I hope that justice prevails,” she said speaking to reporters.

It is reported by the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) that the offender is being detained at a police station in Narok, awaiting trial.

Residents have called upon relevant authorities to bring the victim to justice.

Section 8(1) of the Sexual Offences Act mandates that a person who commits defilement with a child aged eleven years or less shall face a life sentence upon conviction.
For children between the ages of twelve and fifteen, a conviction carries a minimum sentence of not less than twenty years.
