A woman accused of throwing her mother’s household items out of the house while insulting and threatening to fight her after she returned home drunk has been charged with breach of peace.
At the Makadara Law Courts, Esther Mideva, 29, is accused of creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to section 95 (1) of the Penal Code.
She is accused of throwing out basins and insulting her mother Susan Karia at her house in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on October 8, 2023.
Mideva admitted she threw out basins but denied insulting her mother.
Karia had called her daughter who lives with her to deliver some items to her vegetable stall in the area and she brought them an hour later.
Ms Mideva allegedly demanded Sh100 from her mother which she declined to give.
The accused person allegedly started causing a scene while throwing away the basins that her mother uses to wash vegetables while declaring that members of the public would witness a fight between a mother and daughter.
Karia took off fearing for her life and went to Eastleigh North police station where she reported the matter.
The suspect was traced and arrested by the police for the alleged offence.
When she was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Tito Gesora, she admitted that she threw out the basins but said she did not insult her mother or threaten to fight her.
The magistrate entered a plea of not guilty for the suspect and freed her on a personal bond of Sh10, 000. The hearing of the case starts on June 20, 2024.
