Section Of Peponi View Residents Ordered To Vacate After The Land Began Collapsing

The site is near the 2500-acre Karura Forest.

The foundations of some houses in Peponi View Estate were exposed following the collapsing of the land on which they sit.

Blame has been laid on the authorities at the City Hall and national government for okaying the second developer to put up structures on the tract adjoining the estate.

A section of residents of Peponi Views Estate have had to vacate their homes after the land on which the structures sit began collapsing.

Twitter Some social media users implied a developer was putting up houses on the land adjoining the estate.

Sinking Peponi estate The construction works would then expose the foundation of the houses after the land began eroding as earthmovers excavated deeper, posing a danger to the tenants.

Blame would then be laid on the authorities at the City Hall and national government for okaying the developer to put up structures on adjoining land.

Through its Department of Urban Planning and Development, the Nairobi City County is charged with overseeing the issuance of construction permits after requisite checks.

Meanwhile, the national government vowed not to compensate Kenyans whose properties were flattened in Mavoko last month.

Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary Nixon Korir said the burden to offset the losses incurred by the investors rested with the Aimi Ma Lukenya Society, which courted the victims into buying the land.
