Actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress and businesswoman Vera Sidika have emerged as prominent victors at the 2023 Africa Women Awards.
Kate Actress clinched the title of Best Actress of the Year, triumphing over strong contenders such as Kehinde Bankole, Khanya Mkangisa, Scarlet Gomez, Eve Esin, Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson, Nse Ikpe, and Bukunni Oluwasina.
Vera Sidika secured the Celebrity Sensation of the Year award, triumphing over competitors from Nigeria, including Mercy Eke, Cee C, Ilebaye, and Hilda Baci (The Chef).
These wins were celebrated by their fans, who were impressed by the remarkable achievements of both Vera Sidika and Kate Actress in their respective categories at the Africa Women Awards 2023.
The Africa Women Awards aim to spotlight extraordinary women across the continent, celebrating their achievements in diverse industries and backgrounds.

Taking to Instagram, Kate Actress urged her fans to cast their votes and expressed gratitude for the honour.
“Wow… Okay, what a list. My people, do I call my tailor? Is it coming home? Do your thing. The nomination is such an honor. VOTING LINK IS ON MY BIO.”
Vera Sidika, undeterred by being the lone Kenyan nominee against four Nigerians, confidently declared, “1 Kenyan against 4 Nigerians but we’re definitely winning this!!! Let’s gooooooooo. Link on bio.”
Additional Kenyan nominees include Kiss FM presenter Sheila Kwambox, Aziza Hashim, and King Kalala, all contending for the On-Air Personality of the Year award.
Kwambox secured two nominations, also appearing in the ‘Media Personality’ category, where Joy Wayodi and Terry Muikamba are also nominated.
Content creators Chebet Ronoh, Joy Kendi, and musician Brandy Maina are in the running for the Young Creative of the Year award.
Cartoon Comedian Jacky Vike competes for Content Creator of the Year alongside Tanzania’s Angel Nyigu, Nigeria’s Miss Ezeani, and others.
DJ Pierra faces off against South Africa’s DJ Zinhle and TXC, as well as Tanzania’s DJ Mamie, among others, for the DJ of the Year award.
Actresses Brenda Wairimu, Mange Kimambi, and Lynn Ngugi vie for the Young Woman of the Year award, while Claudia Naisabwa is nominated for the TV Personality of the Year award.
