A 52-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly beheading his wife after reportedly taking too long to make his morning cup of tea at their home in Faljagadh, India.

According to Times of India publication, Dharamveer became agitated after asking his wife Sundari why his morning tea was taking so long to be served.

Dharamveer is reported to have woken up at 6am on Tuesday and asked for his usual morning coffee. A while later he asked of the same and Sundari told him that the tea would take ten more minutes to be served.

Sundari’s response prompted the now enraged Dharamveer to go downstairs to fetch his sword.

He is then said to have stabbed his wife from the back when she was tending to the brewing tea and the tussle that followed awoke their four children.

“Jolted out of sleep by her cries, the children rushed to the terrace and tried to save their mother but Dharamveer swished the sword at them too. They went back to their room in fear,” police superintendent Vivek Yadav told The Times of India.

He is said to have stabbed Sundari about 15 times before decapitating her.

Soldier the couple’s son, said his father would often pick fights with their mother over tea but had never witnessed him being violent with Sundari.

“We were in shock when we saw her body on the terrace, blood trickling out of the wounds,” said Soldier.

Dharamveer was found crying by the body where he was arrested by police and taken in custody.

Meanwhile, Sandura’s body has been sent for autopsy.
