Seven Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers narrowly escaped death after their boat, transporting food, capsized in the Indian Ocean near the Kiwayu Chandani area of the Kiunga ward in Lamu County.

The soldiers, who had departed from the Manda camp in Magogoni, Hindi ward, were ferrying supplies when the unfortunate incident happened.

The boat succumbed to the prevailing strong waves and high-speed winds, causing it to sink.

The vessel went under before local fishermen, who were close by, could reach the scene and rescue the soldiers.

Regrettably, all the food supplies aboard the boat, including bags of rice, potatoes, sugar, and oil, sank and were lost, as the soldiers were unable to salvage any of it.
