The relatives of a woman whose remains were discovered discarded inside a dustbin collection point within a residence along Thika Road Mall (TRM) Drive in Kasarani Sub-County have positively identified the body.

However, the family has maintained that it will not be talking to the media as they allow officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the matter fully.

The identification of the body took place on the evening of Monday, January 15, 2024, as officers also shared CCTV footage of the suspect walking into a mini-market where he was handed a key leading to a short-term rental apartment located in an apartment within Kasarani Sub-County.

An officer who spoke to Nairobi News in confidence, as he is not authorised to address the media, said that they were yet to establish whether the woman was killed elsewhere. Her body was taken to the apartment, or she was murdered inside the short-term rental apartment.

“We have realised that the scene of crime did not have any signs of struggle and it was clean. So we are still pursuing a possibility that the lady might have been killed elsewhere and her body taken to the apartment,” said the DCI officer.

Detectives have already said that the suspect used fake details to book the short-term accommodation.

A detective attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) told Nairobi News that he also used a mobile phone registered using a woman’s name to book the room.

“The man did not use his real documents when he booked the Airbnb, but at least we shall release some of his images so that members of the public can assist us in identifying him,” said the sleuth, who spoke in confidence as he is not authorised to address the media.

Nairobi News on Sunday, January 14, 2024, reported the details of the gruesome murder, which shed light on the horrifying incident that took place at the rental located in Green House Apartment.

Concerns arose when the caretaker and management found no trace of the guests upon inspection, only to follow a trail of blood leading to the dustbin collection point.

Mark Auma, the caretaker of the house, made the grim discovery when he found blood in the house.

Subsequently, the management was notified, and a police report filed at Kasarani police station outlined the gruesome details.
