Ugandan authorities are holding a 34-year old man for dismembering his nine-year-old nephew and handing his spouse the remains to cook.
The suspect, a Ntungamo District resident, purportedly carried out the horrific deed on Sunday, January 14, before giving his wife the remains of his elder brother’s son in a sauce pan.
Reports indicate that the suspect’s wife raised alarm after realising that her husband had been serving up his nephew, drawing the attention of area residents who arrived at the scene and positively identified the deceased.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and placed in custody.
Rubaare Sub-County District Councillor John Kabeho told the Monitor publication, that the suspect brutally murdered his kin while his wife was away from home.
“The suspect was left home with the child while his wife and his child went to church. When the wife returned from church, her husband told her that he had bought some meat and it was in a sauce pan in the kitchen. He instructed the wife to cook it immediately because he was hungry,” said Mr. Kabeho.
“When the wife entered the kitchen, she found chopped pieces of human meat in the pan.”
While saying the investigations into the incident are currently ongoing, the Councillor added that the suspect has a history of mental instability.
