In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the omnipresent rapper/entrepreneur raised a few eyebrows.
Snoop Dogg pretended to shoot a clown version of Donald Trump in BADBADNOTGOOD’s 2017 video for “Lavender.” But seven years later, he’s changing his tune when it comes to the former president. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the omnipresent rapper/entrepreneur was asked about Trump.
He replied, “Donald Trump?…. He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris, so I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
Harris, better known in the rap community as Harry-O, was an associate of Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight and founder of Godfather Entertainment.
In the 1980s, Harris was in charge of a nationwide drug trafficking operation that brought in nearly $2 million daily. He said he used the money to invest in local businesses, but he was arrested not only for drug trafficking and attempted murder. Although the victim later recanted and the attempted murder charges were dropped, he remained bars for 33 years.
Trump pardoned Harris in 2021 as he was leaving office. As Snoop told the New York Post at the time, “I love what they did. That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out.”
Snoop Dogg acquired Death Row Records in February 2022 and Harris now serves as the label’s chief operating officer. Twitter, of course, has weighed in on Snoop’s latest comments about Trump. One person wrote, “Who had SnoopDogg supporting Trump on their 2024 bingo card? I sure the f### didn’t,” while another said, “I am so f####g tired of Black people that enable White Supremacists.”
Another person brought up Trump’s sordid past, writing, “This just shows that @SnoopDogg can be bought and paid for through tax cuts. Trump is guilty of raping a woman and is a RACIST. Women(I’m sure he has daughters ) have lost their rights because of Trump but hey never mind about that . I got tax cuts and my black ass don’t pay.”
