Kenya Volleyball Federation National League returns on Thursday for the third leg set to be held at Malaba Stadium in Busia with usual suspects for both women and men set to clash as the hunt for playoffs places continues.

Reigning men’s champions Kenya Prisons will take on high-flying Trail Blazers, who are yet to taste defeat this season, in what is poised to be a scintillating contest.

Prisons, who ended GSU’s seven-year league dominance last season, have already lost to KPA and head coach Dennis Mokua is desperate to avoid another defeat when they meet Trail Blazers.

Mokua wants his charges to show character and grit if they are to get maximum points against the Geoffrey Omondi led men.

“We are going to face a very good team that is yet to drop any game. We have to be at the top level to beat them. Every team is good and the competition for top four is stiff.”

Leaders GSU will aim to maintain their perfect start to the season when they face Mt. Kenya Base Yetu. The paramilitary side are out to recapture their men’s title which they relinquished last season to arch-rivals Prisons.

The 15 time champions, who are yet to drop any game, will play Kenya Army in their second fixture before facing a stern test from Trail Blazers.

Last year’s runners up KPA have a date with Kenya Forest Service (KFS) before they face Rift valley Prisons on Friday.

In the women’s race, defending champions KCB will line up against Kenya Army and Nairobi Prisons.

The Bankers are out to maintain their perfect start to the season, and they are yet to drop any set.

Head coach Japheth Munala has shown his intent to storm the play-offs unbeaten and defend their title which they snatched from Kenya Pipeline.

“We are aiming to pick up from where we left in Eldoret o. We approach each game with utmost care as we are looking to seal a play-off spot before focusing on defending our title.”

New Kenya Pipeline head coach Esther Jespkosgei will begin her stint with the Oilers against former champions Kenya Prisons.

The two-day event slated on Thursday and Friday will precede this year’s Dr. Arthur Odera Tournament to be held at the same venue.
