The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is probing allegations of bribery levelled against officers at Kasarani Police Station.

This is after a woman in a Tiktok video vented her frustrations about how she had been following up on a matter without any breakthrough.

In the video, the woman said she had been following up on a matter in which she sent money to a wrong number trying to recover it.

The woman who identified herself as Irene, said she sent the sum of money to the wrong number while in Saudi Arabia.

“I was sending Sh300,000 but it went to the wrong number so I had to come to Kenya to do a follow-up,” she said.

“I reported to Kasarani DCI, was given an OB and the location of the number was traced.”

The woman alleges that it was after that that the officers told her to part with Sh20,000 to fuel the vehicle which was to be used to go and apprehend the suspect.

She went on to say that on the day the suspect was to be arrested, she received another message directing her to send another Sh3,000 for a taxi since the location of the culprit could not be accessed by the police vehicle.

“I was told to send Sh3,000 to the taxi driver, later on, I discovered the person I sent the money to was one of the officers who were supposed to apprehend the suspect,” she claimed.

She went on to allege that once the arrest was made, the suspect used Sh100,000 to bribe the officers who released him and sent her threats soon after his released

Responding to the video, DCI through the X handle said investigations had been launched into the allegations.

The DCI further said the findings will be made public once the probe is completed.

“The Director DCI has directed the SubCounty Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO/DCIO) at Kasarani to fast track investigations into these allegations and report on the same,” DCI said.

“We shall share the position of the matter including the action taken soon.”

The woman said she had since blocked the numbers of the officers since her attempt to find out what exactly had transpired was made with a rude response.
