Police in Narok County have arrested a man over a missing motorbike belonging to a local chief.

According to Ndamama Sub Location Assistant Chief Michael Bii, he had parked his motorbike under a shade only for it to go missing.

“I joined a church procession in the village and upon returning, my motorbike was missing,” Bii said.

Efforts to follow leads did not yield fruit, prompting him to extend the search; widening the operation across the county.

Armed with contacts of his colleagues and informers, the assistant chief embarked on a recovery mission.

“I have suffered a great deal, walking across my area of jurisdiction after the bike was stolen,” Bii lamented.

With perching atop a bicycle not an option, Bii’s persistence finally paid off.

The suspect, Patrick Chumiot, was fished from his hideout in Kericho County with a motorbike number plate.

The suspect, in his twenties, is being held at Njipiship police post pending further investigations.

“He is a notorious thief in our area. My stolen motorbike was a blessing in disguise,” added the administrator.
