Citizen TV anchor Lulu Hassan fondly remembered late journalist Rita Tinina in a recent interview with Nairobi News.

Reflecting on their last encounter during the 2022 presidential elections, Lulu praised Rita’s peaceful demeanour and professionalism in the media industry.

“Losing Rita is a significant loss for the journalism community. She was highly respected and admired by many journalists. Rita was known for her dedication to her work, her lack of drama, and her straightforward nature,” Lulu said.

She remembered how Rita always wore a smile and treated everyone with kindness.

Lulu’s husband, Rashid Abdalla, echoed similar sentiments, describing Rita as a humble and hardworking journalist.

The late NTV journalist Rita Tinina’s funeral is scheduled to take place in Narok County on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

This information was released through a WhatsApp group opened by her family and friends.

A requiem mass will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Holy Family Basilica

Rita’s lifeless body was discovered at her residence at Brooklyn Springs Apartments in Kileleshwa, Nairobi on Sunday, March 17.

The journalist was supposed to be on duty at NTV to prepare for the 1 pm bulletin but failed to report for work, causing concern among her colleagues.

Rita’s death was attributed to severe pneumonia, according to the results of an autopsy conducted on Tuesday, March 19.

Speaking on behalf of the family at Umash Funeral Home, spokesman Timothy Njaga expressed satisfaction with the autopsy results which confirmed the cause of death.

“We came here to witness the post-mortem conducted by Dr Ndegwa and the family pathologist. We were given the results that the late Rita died of severe pneumonia,” he said.

Njaga also appealed for privacy and respect for the grieving family at this difficult time.

“We should remember that there is a family that is affected,” Njaga urged.

Meetings will be held at All Saints Cathedral from 5.30 pm today and further details on funeral plans will be announced later.

Rita, 46, is survived by her nine-year-old daughter.
