A 28-year old woman from Trans Nzoia was on Friday stabbed to death by a man suspected to be her lover.

The incident happened at the Kiminini business center within Trans Nzoia.

Following the incident, angry residents attacked the suspect, beating him to a pulp, but he was rescued by police officers who arrived at the scene.

The OCPD of Kiminini John Onditi confirmed the incident.

“The suspect attacked the woman at her work place, and stabbed her repeatedly with a knife. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she died while undergoing treatment,” said Onditi.

Police said that the man and the woman may have had an argument earlier – before he followed her to work, and fatally stabbed her.

The body of the deceased was taken to St. Michael Kiminini Hospital mortuary.

The suspect is receiving treatment at the Trans Nzoia district hospital.

Onditi has urged couples to resolve their differences peacefully instead of resorting to acts of violence that could lead to death or injuries.
