Directorate of Criminal Investigation officers (DCI) in Buuri West Sub-county, Meru County are investigating a church facility for illegally holding children below 18 years of age.

According to Buuri West Police Commander James Musyimi, the facility in Timau was found holding 10 children aged between 13-16 years.

The security agencies swung into action after the facility denied access to county public health officers who were out to administer vaccines in the area.

OCPD Musyimi says that the 10 children were rescued through the indulgence of the sub-county director of children’s services.

He added that the church leadership is under interrogation, saying the rights of the minors might have been violated.
