Chavakali Boys students involved in accident, one dies

One student from Chavakali Boys High School has died and several others injured after a bus accident at Maboleo, Kisumu County.

The students were heading home aboard an Easy Coach bus when it overturned at the Mamboleo junction on Monday, 9.00 pm.

Two students sustained severe injuries and are currently admitted at Avenue Hospital, Kisumu while 32 others are undergoing treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.

The bus company has confirmed the incident, promising to provide a comprehensive statement. The bus was plying the Mbale-Nairobi route.

According to a report from Kondele Police Station, the driver of the bus was not found at the scene.

“It happened that the vehicle was negotiating the said Coptic round about on its way Kisumu general direction from Kakamega when the driver lost control hit a rail guard and the vehicle fell down at the edge of the road and rested on its left side,” the police report details on the accident.
