Comedian turned activist Eric Omondi has fundraised a total of Ksh1.6 million for a family that tragically lost seven members to a road accident.
They died in the Salama accident along the Nairobi Mombasa highway.
Through his Instagram page, Omondi noted that the funds raised through his ‘ Team Sisi Kwa Sisi’ initiative were to help the family give their loved ones a proper send-off.
“Team Sisi Kwa Sisi you did it again!!! Can you imagine the pain of one family losing 7 of its members in one accident? The pain of a man surviving but losing his wife and 3 daughters. It’s simply unbearable and overwhelming. Team sisi kwa sisi raised 1.6 million to give these brothers and sisters a decent send-off. God himself will reward you,” Omondi wrote.

Omondi to the rescue
This is not the first time the comedian has come to the aid of a bereaved family.
In November 2023, Eric Omondi, known for aiding viral Kenyans in need, launched a fundraiser to assist a mother who hadn’t been able to bury her son, lost five years prior.
The man identified as Eric Gori died in 2019 and his remains were still at the morgue,
“This is Eric Gori, He died in 2019 and has been lying at the Chiromo Mortuary for 5 Years. You can imagine what the Mother has endured for 5 years. Eric left behind two Children. I have called the Mortuary and asked them to prepare the body we are burying this FRIDAY!!! We will give our brother Rest and give his mother Peace,” Omondi said in November 2023.
“The Bill is 780K…Hii tuta Raise Leo na kesho tupeleke mwili nyumbani tuzike. Na bado tulipie watoto school fees.”
In another incident, Omondi had also fundraised for a mother whose son had been in the mortuary for four months with no means to clear the accumulated bill.
“Dylan Calmax died 4 months ago and has not been buried yet because of a bill that accrued to 2.8 Million. Her mother Christine Mbale needs to rest his boy so she can get closure. She is traumatized. We are Raising money for her tonight from 8.00 pm and then we bury Tomorrow. Keep sending MPESA to her number. Her name is Christine Kaluki Mbale,” Omondi said.
Through the fundraiser, the family was able to raise enough funds to bury the kid.
“We did it guys!!! There is no power like the power in UNITY!!! Ni sisi Kwa Sisi. We managed to give Baby Dylan a decent Burial 4 months after he passed. We managed to give his Mother Christine Kaluki Closure and Peace. Thank you to everyone who contributed!! God bless you,” Omondi stated
