Police in Rongo Migori County have launched investigations into the death of a businesswoman aged 42 years who was murdered in her house at Chamgiwadu trading centre.
The body of Elizabeth Anyango was found lying in a pool of blood inside the bed by the relatives who had gone to check on her.
South West location Chief Maurice Ayieko said the body of the deceased had stabbed wounds around the neck, an indication that she was murdered.
Ayieko said the people involved in the murder are yet to be identified, adding that investigations are underway.
The area chief has appealed for calmness among the residents of Chamgiwadu as the police get into the bottom of the murder incident.
The residents of Chamgiwadu want the government to expeditiously investigate the matter and action taken to the people involved in the killing of the businesswoman.
Okoth Njoga said they are now living in extreme fear following the killing and therefore the security officers must move with speed to bring the culprits to book.
The residents of Chamguwadu have also called for heightened night patrols at the market centre.
The killing of the businesswoman comes a few days after a watchman was also killed in Rongo town at night and assorted school items stolen from Rongo primary school.
The residents of Rongo Sub County have raised concern over rising cases of insecurity in the region urging the police and other security agencies to up their game.
