Transport operations along the Machakos-Kangundo road have been temporarily halted due to fallen rock debris blocking a section of the road. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has mobilized efforts to remove the debris, which was caused by bad weather conditions.

Motorists have been directed to use alternative routes while the affected section at Kyamwilu point is being cleared to prevent potential dangers from looming rockslides.

The rock debris had raised concerns about the risk of a rockslide, exacerbated by heavy rainfall that had destabilized the soil. At Kyamwilu Hill, where a natural phenomenon defies gravity, local youths who showcase this attraction to curious motorists expressed concern that the closure was impacting their livelihood.

This phenomenon, where water appears to flow upwards endlessly, has made Kyamwilu Hill a tourist attraction site.

Last week, KeNHA had issued warnings to motorists about potential hazards from falling rock debris at Kaloleni, emphasizing the importance of caution while traveling along this route.
