Five-Year-Old Girl Strangled To Death In Migori

Police in Uriri, Migori County are investigating a peculiar incident in which a five-year-old girl was reportedly strangled to death by unknown assailants near her family home in Central Kanyamkago.

Confirming the incident, Central Kanyamkago Location Chief George Odhiambo told Citizen Digital that the girl’s lifeless body was discovered within a partially constructed house, merely a short distance from her residence.

He added that preliminary investigations had established that the killer used the child’s clothes to strangle her to death.

Odhiambo added that while the motive for the killing remains unknown, local DCI officers are actively investigating the incident.

The child’s body has since been moved to Migori Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and police investigation.

One of the area residents who claimed that the suspect began digging the tunnel in 2017 stated that the suspect and his victim had an argument about the condition of the tunnel before he went missing. "The two had quarrelled after the man stopped his father from cutting the Napier grass around the tunnel," Johnson Mutembei a resident told a local publication. The suspect is currently in custody pending arraignment in court to face murder charges. "We have arrested a man who is suspected to have killed his father, cooked part of the body and hidden some in a tunnel," Muthambi Sub-County Police Commander stated.
