A 37-year-old widow spent Tuesday night in the cold after her house was allegedly torched by a man who had inherited her in Siaya County.

The victim, Grace Auma Oyugi, is said to have differed with the man identified as Isaiah Goro.

Police said the incident happened at Karadolo East sub-location in Ugenya Sub County.

“Her house was set on fire prompting her to run for her safety. She took refuge in a neighboring home,” Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said.

Upon returning to her home, Oyugi found the house razed down. The 32-year-old Goro was missing.

Kimaiyo said that the woman reported the matter at Ratado police station.

“She lost property worth an estimated Ksh.54,000 following the incident,” police added.

The suspect was pursued and later arrested. He is expected before a court in Ukwala on Wednesday.
