During the launch of the new Netflix reality show ‘The Bahati’s Empire’ on Thursday evening, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua encouraged Kenyan content creators to persevere despite facing cyberbullying online. He revealed that he himself has experienced ridicule and bullying on digital platforms.

“If I were to get distracted, myself, I would not be Deputy President. You know the way I’ve been bullied in online spaces and political rallies,” he said.

“They were even saying I don’t know English, they were saying I don’t know how to dress. Si munaona vile nakaa.”

DP Gachagua went ahead to narrate how some of his perceivably noble actions have always been taken out of context online.
He cited the recent backlash he has undergone in his quest to presumably unite the people of his backyard, Mt. Kenya region.

“Many people when they see we are focused and we get along with the people of Kenya and they appreciate us, they now call me a tribalist because I want to unite my people,” stated the DP.

“Never get distracted by prophets of doom, naysayers and envious people with evil hearts and they are very many. Today, I am focused on assisting President Ruto and assisting this great country.”

The country’s second-in-command reiterated the need for creating clean content that will not corrupt children’s minds and the society as a whole.
“Remember we have children and young ones who will watch your show, what are you telling them, how are you preparing them for life? So as much as you want to entertain us be mindful of our young children,” he told the content creators present.

The Deputy President also expressed his interest and knowledge in local music, revealing that he is an ardent fan of legendary rapper Prezzo.
“Bahati and the rest of you…by the way Prezzo I am your fan, I listen to your music,” he said.
“And by the way many people don’t know me, mimi ni mtu wa muziki. I love music because it is soothing to the heart.”

Civil society organizations refute claims that they are financing protests in Kenya.
