In what authorities in Bomet suspect to be a case of suicide and filicide, a 29-year-old woman named Caren Langat and her one-year-old son were found dead. According to Musa Omar Imamai, the police commandant of Bomet central sub-county, Langat is believed to have killed her son before taking her own life by hanging.

The tragic incident has deeply shocked the residents of Nyongores in Bomet central.

The bodies of the woman and her son were discovered hanging from the roof of their family home. Gideon Ngetich, the area chief, expressed concern over the increasing number of suicide cases in the area, many of which are attributed to domestic disputes.

Police from the Silibwet station responded to the scene and collected statements from the deceased woman’s husband and other witnesses. Subsequently, the bodies were transported to the mortuary at Longisa hospital.
